Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
